Performance Indicators in Primary Schools (PIPS) Project
http://www.pipsproject.org/
The Performance Indicators in Primary Schools (PIPS) Project is one of the family of information systems offered by the Curriculum, Evaluation and Management Centre (CEM Centre) at the University of Durham [U.K.]. The CEM Centre has provided value-added information for schools and colleges since 1983. PIPS tracks a number of aspects of schooling as pupils move through the primary sector. We gather data on individual pupils using assessment materials that are quick and easy to administer. These data are processed at Durham and the results passed back to schools. The results allow schools to look objectively at the progress and attitudes of individual pupils. PIPS feedback also enables teachers to judge their schools performance within the context of the thousands of others using the assessments at the same time, whilst protecting the confidentiality of each school. The intention is to promote school improvement by providing professionals with high quality information. PIPS Assessments are curriculum based and annually reviewed for validity and reliability. They are suitable for use in British schools (including independent settings) and assessments are available for use in overseas schools. Indeed, PIPS is used in 25 countries.

Mass Insight Education and Research Institute is an independent not-for-profit corporation focused on improving student achievement in Massachusetts' public schools. Through public outreach initiatives, school leadership training programs, and public opinion and policy reports, Mass Insight Education supports the implementation of the 1993 Education Reform Act, with a primary focus on its central initiative, the statewide standards and testing program. The primary goal is to raise academic achievement for all students, including those who have been trapped in a cycle of low expectations. To meet this goal, Mass Insight Education and its Coalition for Higher Standards work in three areas: public outreach; strengthening schools; and policy.

The Southern Regional Education Board, the nation's first interstate compact for education, was created in 1948 by Southern states. SREB assists state leaders by directing attention to key issues; collecting, compiling and analyzing comparable data; and conducting broad studies and initiating discussions that help states and institutions form long-range plans, actions and policy proposals. SREB's 16 member states are:
Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
SREB is governed by a board that consists of the governor of each member state and four people that he or she appoints, including at least one state legislator and at least one educator. SREB is supported by appropriations from its member states and by funds from private companies, foundations, and state and federal agencies.
